I have been asking parents, staff, and students what Educating for Impact means to them. One parent commented, “Education that includes encouraging my children to walk in a godly manner is very important, because they listen to you (staff at MVCS) more than they listen to me.”
It is important for all of us to remember that not all of the students at MVCS have accepted Jesus as their Savior. And, even if they are believers, they are still baby believers to be fed milk. (I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, 1 Corinthians 3:2) This means that every conversation takes on a distinctive tone as we are guided by the Lord to speak Truth to each one differently. Some need the Gospel before we can expect their hearts to desire to walk in godliness. Some need to know and understand His ways. Along with you, we are sowing the seeds; the Lord waters.
This is a DISTINCTIVE that we have at MVCS. We have the ability to have prayerful conversations with the students that engage their hearts. As we are faithful to have deep, transparent conversations that confront in love, the Lord does a mighty work to transform. We know that you want your student to be discipled during their school day.
Plans for the future: We will have discussions around this topic at our Inservice, August 26-28, and will learn from the Master. In addition to integrating a biblical worldview into all of academics, each staff member will be actively involved with getting to know each student, and to be known by them. This will happen through small groups, one-on-one conversations, and through games and fun times too. We will seek each student out to engage with their hearts. We will exhort and encourage. We will set boundaries and limits. We will pray and love.
Please pray as we prepare to be missionaries here at MVCS to your students, that we would be enlightened and refreshed. We are praying for you: parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors of the students here at MVCS. We are praying that you and your believing student will be used by God here at MVCS too. You also are missionaries. You can be a light to the students as you interact with them at drop-off and pickup, games, events, etc. If your student is a believer, they too can be salt and light to their friends here at MVCS.
May the Lord use us all as He draws the students to Himself.
Resting in His great love,
Head of School
